Using the Mastery Premium Feature in Grade Guardian or Dropout Detective

Grade Guardian/Dropout Detective can show data from the course Learning Mastery Gradebook (LMG) for students. Showing student mastery in Dropout Detective enables users to identify specific areas the student has not yet mastered. With mastery, users can quickly address academic concerns and apply appropriate interventions to support student success.

1. Accessing the Mastery Tab 0:24

• Navigate to the student list page.
• Select any student from the list.
• Locate the 'Mastery' tab at the top of the page, following the 'Overview', 'Notes', 'History', and 'Contacts' tabs.

2. Understanding Mastery Progress 0:36

• Review the 'Mastery Progress' section for the selected student.

  Check the following details for each course:

  • Link to the course's homepage.
  • Number of outcomes in the course.
  • Number of outcomes assessed so far.

3. Analyzing Mastery Outcomes 0:59

• Identify outcomes the student has mastered and those they have not.
• Review which outcomes the student has surpassed the mastery threshold, is close to mastering, or has low scores in.
• Note if the student has a zero in any outcomes.

4. Utilizing the Mastery Chart 1:41

• Click on the 'Mastery Chart' button for each course.
• Examine the graphs that display historical mastery levels for each outcome.
• Hover over the bars in the graph to see mastery levels on specific dates.

5. Understanding Mastery Thresholds 2:00

• Observe the broken line across the graph, which indicates the mastery threshold.
• Show or hide the legend for different mastery scales as needed.
