Overview

GradeGuardian is an LMS-embedded student risk and performance dashboard that helps staff monitor students across courses. It provides a nightly-updated risk index, student profiles, history views, notes, alerts, and contact information, with different views for administrators and instructors.

Dashboard Overview 0:08

• GradeGuardian appears inside the LMS, including Canvas, Schoology, and Moodle.

  The main dashboard shows a 0–100 risk index for each student.

  Risk is color-coded:

  • Green: low risk
  • Yellow: medium risk
  • Red: high risk
• Dashboards can be personalized by grouping students into advisor lists, sports, teams, or extracurriculars.
• Data is refreshed nightly at midnight in the user’s time zone.

Student Profile Details 0:23

• Clicking a student opens their profile with key information in one place.

  Available data may include:

  • Current grades across courses
  • Zeros
  • Missing assignments
  • Last access dates

  • Last submitted gradable assignment

    These data points contribute to the student’s risk score.

    When permissions allow, course links are clickable and can open:

  • The course homepage
  • The student’s gradebook
  • The full access report

Notes and Alerts 1:27

• Staff can add notes to a student profile.
• Notes are retained for as long as the student remains at the institution.
• Notes can be used by teachers, counselors, and administrators to document interactions.
• Selecting Activate Alert while saving a note notifies connected staff such as guidance counselors or coaches.
• Alerts also create a visible flag on the student profile and dashboard.
• Notes can be tagged to help categorize them or route them to the right people.

History and Contacts 2:19

• GradeGuardian includes history views for trend analysis:
  • Up to 30 days of risk history
  • Up to 30 weeks of overall performance history

  • Up to 30 days of grade history per course

    History helps distinguish between students who are improving and those who are declining.

    The student record also includes contacts connected to the student, such as:

  • Advisors
  • Coaches
  • Other teachers
  • Observers, including parents or guardians when available

Instructor View 3:04

• Instructor access is course-specific.
• A student’s risk score may differ from the admin view because it is calculated for the instructor’s course context.
• The instructor’s course is highlighted at the top of the student view.
• If enabled by the school, instructors can also view a student’s broader progress across all courses.
• This view helps staff understand whether a student’s struggles are isolated to one class or happening more broadly.

• The Help Desk link at the top of the dashboard provides additional guidance.
• The Contact Us screen is also available for direct support.
• Users can email the GradeGuardian team for help.
